Summer Camp (Lockport and Niagara Falls)

 

Summer Day Camp                            

The YWCA of Niagara is ready for Summer Camp 2012. YWCA Camp staff has created weekly integrated themes which incorporate arts & crafts, recreational and instructional swimming, and hands-on activities that revolve around the theme of the week. Friday field trips are part of the weekly fun. Children must be five years old by July 1st to register. Camp is expected to operate at two locations—Lockport and Niagara Falls. The Lockport camp will be held from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at North Park Middle School. The Niagara Falls camp will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Niagara Street Elementary School. The program will cost $110 for the first child and $100 for each additional child. A $40 registration fee is required at the time of application and includes a one year YWCA membership.

Parents interested in enrolling their children in either camp will need a completed enrollment form, completed medical health history form, physical and immunization records, a copy of the each child’s birth certificate. Advance registration is recommended. Space is limited.

Camp costs include breakfast, lunch and snack, all field trip fees, no extra fee for drop off before 8:30 a.m. or pickup after 4:30 p.m., and field trip shirt.

Overview

Program Highlights 

Camp with a choice! Children are given a variety of activities each day in which they can participate. Each camper chooses those activities in which they want to participate, and for how long. Programs vary daily.

Field Trips

The week’s events culminate with a field trip to an area attraction. All field trips are held on Friday, weather permitting and subject to change. Past field trip favorites have included Darien Lake, Fantasy Island, Strong Museum, The Maid of the Mist and Fallsview Indoor Water Park.

Summer Buddy Program

The YWCA offers a structured ten-week program available to youth between 13-15 years of age. The program offers parents a safe, supervised environment for the early teen. The Summer Buddy Program will encourage youth to develop leadership skills, experience personal growth, participate as a “Junior Team Leader,” and interact constructively with younger children. Space is limited, register early!

Travel Buddy 

Want to go on exciting trips, but don’t need an all-day camp program? Travel buddy is for you. Each week a very limited number of spaces will be available for children to take advantage of the field trip day only!!! Cost will be $40 per field trip; advance program registration is required. All paperwork must be completed and on file to attend. Call for details.

Enrollment

Children must have completed Kindergarten. You may register your child for any number of weeks. Schedule changes may be made without penalty until June 15, 2011. After June 15, you will be financially responsible for all registered weeks. Space is limited – register early to avoid disappointment!

Times

In Lockport, the camp runs for ten weeks and opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In Niagara Falls, the camp runs for eight weeks and opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Fees

We now accept New York State Department of Social Services payments, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Independent Health Flex Fit Debit Cards and Automatic Bank Debits. Cost of the program is $110 per week for the first child, $100 for each additional child. One week advance payment is due at time of registration, which is applied to the total fee.

The YWCA follows the guidelines of the Niagara County Health Department for summer day camp programs. The following information must be submitted before your child is considered registered in this program.
