Universal Pre-Kindergarten (4 year olds)
A partnership with the Lockport City School District, this program is available to all Lockport City School residents. The YWCA is one of six Lockport Early Childhood Programs that provide developmentally appropriate opportunities that create academic, social, emotional and physical success for each child. Our Program
The YWCA provides a safe and nurturing environment for all children. Our UPK program offers opportunities to play, learn and socialize through a variety of age appropriate experiences. Structured and unstructured activities are based on weekly and/or monthly themes.
Activites Include
- Participation in large motor activities in the YWCA gymnasium two or three times weekly
- Walking field-trips to local community treasures such as: Library, Post Office, Fire & Police Departments
- A visit from the Aquarium, a bus trip to a local farm and a themed picnic
- A Graduation celebration showcases the children’s year long learning experiences
UPK Application
In March, applications for this free program for Lockport City School District residents are available through the YWCA of Niagara, the Lockport Early Childhood Center, all Lockport Elementary Schools, and also the Lockport Board of Education.
Registration Information
The registration process will take place in March. Your child must be four years old by December 1st of the year the child will attend school.
In order to register you will need:
- Child’s Original Birth Certificate
- Proof of Residency (NYSEG Bill, Phone Bill, Tax, Insurance or Bank Statement, etc.)

- Child’s Current Immunization Record (Shot Record)
- Child’s Current Physician’s Report (Physical)
- Child’s Current Lead Screening Report
- Child’s Current Dental Evaluation Report
- Custody/Legal Documentation, if Applicable
