Airport Café/Niagara Falls City Hall Café

The Niagara Falls International Airport Café

The Catering Crew was awarded the concession contract for the “new terminal” – at the Niagara Falls International Airport, providing a café-style dining for flight patrons. The Café served sandwich wraps, homemade soups, salads and desserts to their first flight of patrons on December 18, 2009, and expanded their menu to include beer and wine in November, 2010. This social enterprise is a “win – win” for the community and travelers coming to the Niagara Region; it not only provides a quality service and product to patrons of the Niagara Falls International Airport, it also provides employment with a living wage to graduates of Carolyn’s House Vocational Culinary Training program.

The café has grown exponentially as more flights have been added on a regular basis. The projected number of patrons for 2012 is set at more than 100,000 and growing as more airlines and flight destinations join the airport team.

The Niagara Falls City Hall Café opened its doors in April, 2011. It serves the 100+ city hall employees and the surrounding area of the Main Street City Building. The counter-service stand is managed by The Catering Crew and serves its patrons Monday through Friday. It also serves as an additional site for training and job opportunities for our residents and culinary art students. The City Hall Café is yet another example of a successful social enterprise model and is completely managed and run by Culinary Training graduates.
